friday 10

1. it's freakin' freezing outside....the truck's temp. reading was 5 this morning...brrrrrrrrr!!
2. going to try to complete my i confess album tonight from shimielle's blog....have discovered i'm pretty darn quirky & hence have quite a few things to confess.....
3. totally love it when all my kids go to sleep at the same time in the afternoon....try to tiptoe around so i can drag out the silence for as long as possible....
4. got stopped by a security guard today at target....he thought i was trying to steal 2 boxes of capri suns.....had to show him where they were listed on the receipt so i could go on my merry way....money well spent, target....while your rent-a-cop stopped me for $3 worth of juice, i'm sure 10 gameboy games worth $50 each walked out the door
5. totally love dove chocolates over hershey kisses.....have stashed bits of them everywhere, you know just in case of an emergency....see #2 if you are wondering why in the heck i'd do such a thing....
6. discovered i have unrealistic expectations from products like for instance, i actually expect a bottle of "energy" vita water to give me energy....i should probably just save my $1.50 & get some more sleep....
7. i have a new love affair with paint.....making memories paint in particular....picked up the above little lovelies today at target (& yes, i paid for them!!)....the fact that they were entitled spring made them a must have since i'm getting sick & tired of all the brown outside
8. cannot wait till tomorrow morning so i can make pillsbury cinnamon rolls w/ icing....mmmmmm...
9. even though i love the playoffs & the super bowl...it's always so sad that there are no more games on sunday afternoons anymore....chilli from the crock pot just doesn't taste the same without screaming at the t.v. for a bad call or laughing at michael irvin's suit.
10. thinking of trying out for a kit club design team....never done that before....who knows?

happy birthday to my buddy andrea!  she tells me that she always is hanging out on my blog....checking up on the neighbors....so, andrea...the above notebook is for you!!  hope you like it!!  & hope you had a wonderful birthday!!!! 

in other (somewhat)news....i've decided that i could never hack it as a single mom...today is day 3 of mike working late & i'm about to put kate up for sale.....ryan may be put on clearance tomorrow....& kelly....i guess i'll keep her around....she the easy one....just give her some markers, paint, paper, ribbons, glue, & any other scrap goodies you have around and she's good for the afternoon.  today she made her own paper dolls out of some scrap paper & my punches.  she even put long hair made out of a cut ribbon on the doll's head.  she's amazing....

but kate....she is in to everything!!  no stopping that girl......she probably thinks her name is "katie, no!!" cause that is how she is called 99% of the time.  she's taken to following me around and saying don't touch!....well, it sounds more like duuuuuhhhhh ussssssssss........gotta be honest though...right now kate is sitting on my lap with about 4 of her blankies & sucking her thumb.....she's so sweet, even though she's a total pain in the neck sometimes.....so i guess that means the sale on kids at the kennedy household is off......the crazy owner changed her mind again......

gotta say, making this card was the most fun so far (maybe because it's based on the fact i'm outta my mind???? lololol!!)   but i am crazy....a little nutty....a total spaz.....  lucky for me, mike's just as wacked out (if not more...) than me.    so poor kelly, ryan & kate...they are doomed......we have begun to see the telltale signs already!!!

• kate carrying her baby around by the head in one hand and a purse in the other

• kelly and her love of hot chocolate with marshmallows and making her own peanut butter crackers
• the way ryan comes out of his room & says "i'm just a wittle thirsty" while patting his throat
• kelly looking out the window each morning to see if it snowed
• ryan with his sweet bed head hair
• kate's excitement at the prospect of leaving the house.  how she almost panics to try to get her coat & hat so that she won't be left behind.
• kelly reading her books to me
• kelly & ryan begging to get chores.  how they each love to dust & sweep the floor & help with the laundry
• kate doing her little dance of stomping her feet when she gets excited
• the way kelly & ryan pronounce pattern "pat-er-wren"
• how kate will answer questions with "Yah, Yah!!" & rarely says "no"
• how ryan loves to wear sweatpants & his Jets jerseys
• the kids' excitement at the blooming amaryllis

challenge...week #2

here's my 2nd card for the deck of you challenge from the amazing emily  her prompt this week was what is powerful to you?

i was thinking about it and was remembering how much i've been through in my life and how much i've overcome, but it has always been with the support of those closest to me & because of my Faith (& God knows, it's been tested on quite a few occasions).  it's that concept of "together" that has been such a force in my life...i've never been alone.  i've always had such amazing support & help & encouragement & love & faith & generosity & caring & sacrifice from mike, my family, my friends...i'm so blessed...& i know i am so powerful...because i am never alone....it is never just me against the world...makes me remember that poem @ the footprints in the sand....He is always with me...

what is even funnier is that me & the kids did this card together....kelly painted the heart...ryan did the staples...kelly glue dotted the "together" on....we all chose the flowers.   so all in all, pretty cool that this challenge was done together!!

such a big day!!!

it was unbelievable....amazing....a huge dance party...so much fun....such a great time...crikey!!!... it was AWESOME!!!

we ALL had so much fun at the g'day ny show.  it was so great to see kelly's eyes when bindi came out on the stage.  .....mommy...there's bindi!!!...she was so thrilled.  & ryan almost had a heart attack when wes came out WITH a huge burmese python.  two of his favorites on stage at one time...terri irwin was great too...she actually is really funny & told little stories about her husband & how he loved all of the animals...& thanks to her, now kelly loves cougars too....so glad that my kids have these great role models in their life.  so thankful that kelly wants to imitate a little girl like bindi with her pig tails and smiles and dedication to help the world be a bletter place, rather than wanting to be like britney or lindsay and their selfish, offensive, scantily clad crew. 

but, the best part of the show and the day has to be the music...the dancing...the kids all danced like crazy in the aisles to every song that bindi & the crocmen performed.  then to top of an already awesome day....the wiggles came out & did a bunch of their best songs.   they even dimmed all the lights & had the kids hold up their mom & dad's cell phones to make "twinkling stars" during their rendition of "twinkle, twinkle, little star".  mike & i just sat there and ENJOYED watcing the kids have a ball!  gotta admit...we did some dancing too....it was so much fun.....

while we were all at the show, kate had a great day with grammie.  she cruised the streets in her stroller like a real city kid.  even got to visit auntie elizabeth & nancy and play with all of elizabeth's antique brass tea sets & jade statues.  she had about 12 monkey drinks and a million french fries...even got to go out to dinner with her favorite uncle jeff & show off all of her tricks (tater...where is your nose?  where is your hair?)....so all around a successful day for tater...

also big news around here...we got just a taste of snow here on friday.....it was only an inch, but the kids loved every bit of it.....especially kate....actually, kate had kind of a love/hate thing with the snow...she would pick it up on her little mitten & go...yook...yook!!!...but then when she would fall down & be stuck in it...she'd cry & cry.  so funny...ryan was exactly the same way at that age.  here's a little pic of the tater tot in all of her winter glory...  so cute!!

are you ready bindi?

they are sooooooo excited, they cannot control themselves...kelly & ryan cannot believe that it really is going to happen...i hear @ 20 times an hour is it saturday yet?...you wanna know why?

....because on saturday, they are going to the Family Aussie Concert & they'll get to see bindi & terri irwin, wes mannion & some of their favorite animals from australia.  the wiggles will also be there, which is also a huge deal...we are big fans of those aussies as well.

it is a dream come true for these kids...they absolutely adore the irwins & all of the staff at australia zoo (they know every single one of the staff by name)...they play crocodile hunter every single day (steve!!!  the crocs are looking for a food souce...quick, hurry!...terri, i'm comin', but i have to catch the highly venomous snakes first...isn't she a beauty!!!...gorgeous steve, just gorgeous!!)....they know almost every episode of crocodile hunter, crocodile hunter diaries AND croc files by heart....they can tell you amazing facts about all sorts of wildlife... they want to grow up and save wildlife...when i asked them if they would want to go to disney world or australia zoo, both answered without hesitation australia zoo!!! 

the camera will be in full force!  mike & i cannot wait to see their faces!!!

our little football fan...

now that the eagles are out of the playoffs, ryan is rooting for the pastry-iots.  guess he's combined his love of doughnuts w/ his love of football????

also, during the bears/seahawks game, he noticed that 2 of his pretzels were stuck together & told mike they were hassellbacked.  i'm sure matt hasselbeck would be proud to know he has now been associated with interlocking pretzels.

art journal challenge

above is my first step in my 2007 art journal journey.  emily falconbridge posted the challenge on her blog the other day & i was inspired, so i'm joining it.   the concept is to create an art journal using a deck of playing cards....& alter one card a week.  at the end of the year you will have 52 cards & have taken a creative journey....isn't that such a great idea!!  this week's prompt was "something you are proud of".  i really thought hard @ this one & i've come to the realization that i am most proud of who i am...who i've become....i've come a long way & by no means am perfect....but i am pretty proud of who i am, flaws & all.   

gotta say, this is sooooooo much fun....just to play....create whatever i want.....fool around w/ all my fun supplies....explore different techniques....basically, just create for the sake of creating art.....so many thanks emily for the challenge!  if anyone else wants to join, please do!  no prior experience is necessary...just the desire to have some good 'ol creative fun!!

here is kelly's take on the challenge.  isn't she so artistic!  of course hers has rhinestones & flowers all over it.  it also say's "you're the cat's meow!".  so kelly....and i am sooooo proud of her!!!

what's missing?????  it's the tv...the big tv...the one w/ hd that allowed us to see the sweat dripping off tiki barber's nose...the picture that was so clear you felt as if maybe you just did feed charlie the crocodile in australia zoo.....

the bulb blew & some other do-hickey, so it is in the shop.  hopefully we'll get it back tuesday....but that won't help us for today nor sunday....guess we'll be slummin' it watching the games this weekend.   funny how this all happened after i read an article in my mom's newletter talking @ how the tv is a form of mind control.  well, now our minds aren't being controlled so much this week....guess i could pick up a book???  maybe learn to knit???  i will say i've definitely gotten more scrappin' done.  so maybe when our 46" silver friend comes back, it won't be on so much?  we'll see.
