here is my super fab prize pack :)
awesome, right!! that pink paislee vintage moon line is my absolute favorite right now...i just can't get enough of that little adorable owl...
ok...so you want to get in on my drawing? here is what you've gotta do :)
tell me a story...
i want to hear a story about the street where you grew up...or where you live now...or where you dream of living...
you can leave me a comment, but if you post your story on your blog mentioning that you want in on this contest along with a link back to kenner road, i'll enter your name in the drawing twice :)
i'll be pulling the winner sunday evening...
here is a little story from me...
i grew up on yeadon avenue, right outside of south philadelphia...
& if you know anything about philadelphia, you know people from philly are crazy nuts about their hometown sports teams...i mean seriously...philly people are psycho fans when it comes to sports...
anyways...it was 1981 & the philadelphia eagles were in the superbowl...
the entire southeastern part of pennsylvania lost their minds...
on yeadon avenue our next door neighbors decided to make an "eagle-mobile" and painted their car bright eagle green...i mean SCREAMING BRIGHT KELLY GREEN WITH HUGE SILVER WINGS ON THE SIDES...my mom (who is an artist) even painted a humongous eagle on the hood...
the car was insane...
i think they even installed an air horn on it that blew as it drove down the street...
anyways...the eagles did terrible superbowl sunday...
horrendous...
totally got trompled by the oakland raiders...
by half-time it was obvious that our beloved eagles were just not going to bring home the vincent lombardi trophy this year...& as we sat in our little house during half time we started hearing this weird noise & smelling paint fumes...
lo & behold, our next door neighbor was out in the garage w/ the "eagle-mobile" spray painting it black...
yeah...he was taking this loss badly...lol
so there is a little one of my stories...
what's yours? :)
hope you have a fantastic friday!
xoxoxo

I do know about those sports fans; trust me, even though we live in Maryland, my husband wants a Pittsburgh Steelers yard complet with doormat, door knocker and the works..I never thought too much about the street where I grew up because as a daughter of a serviceman, we always moved every 3 years...but this does make me wanna scrap the idea for my childrens album since they were born and raised on the same street in the same house all their short lives. See my blog too for the continuation

Honestly, one of my fondest memories is when we lived in gov't housing and the neighborhood kids tried to teach me how to break dance on cardboard boxes when break dancing first came out and was popular back in the 80's. I might have to make a page about that!

Dang! I missed this!
Here's my story anyways:
I was born in Newark, NJ. In 1974 (damn I'm old) we moved the metropolis of Leesburg, FL. (I am being very sarcastic here.) My dad had just started an anesthesiology practice with a wonderful group of doctors and moved down for this opportunity.
My parents bought a house on La Salida Way. It was the first house that my parents ever purchased and were very proud. I spent my childhood and my teenage years growing up in that house. My parents still live in that house and I will be staying there next weekend when I go home for my 20 year high school reunion. Like I said, damn - I'm old!
Oh...and here is something funny. When my mother would go crazy on a rant about something stupid or another, my sister and I would call her: "Nightmare on La Salida Way"!

I grew up in the Thorbeckestraat in Katwijk (a little town near the sea in the Netherlands) I lived in an appartmentbuilding together with my parents, a little sister and a little brother. I loved it there and had lots of friends to play with. When I was nine we moved to an other part of the same town but guess what now 34 years later I'm living in a house on the Thorbeckestraat again. So back to my roots. And when I'm in my house I can see the appartment we used to live in. Byr Irene
