here is a little story from me...
i grew up on yeadon avenue, right outside of south philadelphia...
& if you know anything about philadelphia, you know people from philly are crazy nuts about their hometown sports teams...i mean seriously...philly people are psycho fans when it comes to sports...
anyways...it was 1981 & the philadelphia eagles were in the superbowl...
the entire southeastern part of pennsylvania lost their minds...
on yeadon avenue our next door neighbors decided to make an "eagle-mobile" and painted their car bright eagle green...i mean SCREAMING BRIGHT KELLY GREEN WITH HUGE SILVER WINGS ON THE SIDES...my mom (who is an artist) even painted a humongous eagle on the hood...
the car was insane...
i think they even installed an air horn on it that blew as it drove down the street...
anyways...the eagles did terrible superbowl sunday...
horrendous...
totally got trompled by the oakland raiders...
by half-time it was obvious that our beloved eagles were just not going to bring home the vincent lombardi trophy this year...& as we sat in our little house during half time we started hearing this weird noise & smelling paint fumes...
lo & behold, our next door neighbor was out in the garage w/ the "eagle-mobile" spray painting it black...
yeah...he was taking this loss badly...lol
so there is a little one of my stories...
what's yours? :)
hope you have a fantastic friday!
xoxoxo
gi
Oooh, I wish I could win that gift pack.....looks like I'll have to haul by backside back out to the store to find those cool goods. :)
Lovin' that sneak Geeg.....and, that story about the car never gets old! :D
xoxoxo,

Here is my small story:
Well this is where I grow up on a road called Oak Lane. I was the only girl among many boys. I enjoyed playing with them. We played cops and robbers, building tree forts, riding bikes, stay outside way past midnight, walk on the railroad tracks and all the stuff boys did and years after this I started to 'like" one of the boys and soon (around age 13) started hanging out with just him. We would watch tv, walk up the road holding hands (but stop when we got in front of my house so my parents wouldn't see). We remained friends for years and after starting high school we stopped hanging out with each other and then life happened I grew up and moved away. I still see him time to time.
and I posted it at Willow Traders: http://www.willowtraders.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=76116&hl=
I also posted a thread about the new club for all us club lovers to see. (Please don't laugh at my story)

I grew up in Bethlehem, PA and my story is of the 2oth year of Musikfest this year. Musikfest is a weeklong city-wide celebration of music. Nothing was better then traking my 4 year old there this year and listening to all of the street performances...a different genre at every area. The food is amazing and every culture possible is represented. I can barely explain the feast to the senses. There is a man who plays giant bells dressed as someone from the opera. This year we sat in the grass and watched a great acoustic band....visit if you can...its every year in August.
I posted on my blog too. Nathanielsmom.typepad.com

that is too funny...
ok so my story:
i grew up on Cortez St. i lived on the house on the corner, right across from the little neighborhood candy store. there was a cute guy i liked and i used to try to go to the store when he was there. i would use any excuse to go-you can't have too many now and laters right? lol
well, one day i saw him at the store and we started talkin-we talked for hours, sitting right on the sidewalk. he told me he liked me and would always hope to see me at the store and at school. he asked me to be his girlfriend right then and there. i said yes and i got my first kiss :)
we went out for a while but then he wanted to go out with another girl :(
shortly after that, he moved away.

I grew up on a street called Moody in San Rafael, California. It is a culdesac that is shaped like a lopsided T. It was the most wonderful neighborhood because there were so many children. We would all be out together, laying on the largest part of the sidewalk, staring at the clouds and and then drawing pictures of what we thought they looked like. When I look back on it now, it seems magical, and I hope my son gets to enjoy a similar experience as he grows up.

I grew up on Mason Street, on the top of a hill overlooking a fantastic view, our home was (and my parents are still there) in a little circle. Almost every house had kids our age and we hung out on a daily basis, in the days when playing outside till the lights came on, going from this house to that and all of us so close that it didnt matter which house we drifted into we were all such good friends.

i just got married a month & a day ago. living on a new street has been an adjustment. we live in my husband's childhood home, so he's very much at home here. but it's been (and continues to be) a big adjustment living somewhere new, with someone else, etc. but it's also been a fun & exciting process. hey, i have my own scrap room. never thought that would be possible! :) jessica

Oh my goodness, don't know where to start. I'm 45 years old and have probably lived in about 25 different houses growing up! My Dad worked in the farming industry and we moved nearly every year. We lived in New Zealand, twice, and all over England until I came back to Norfolk where we live now in 1986 and have only moved twice since then!! I must get the names of all of the places and dates from my Mum and do a layout one of these days.

Hi Gigi,
you just reminded me of the time I spent 5 days in Philadelphia. It was completely unplanned, and we hopped off the Delta flight, because our travel guide made it sound so good. At first it was meant to be a stopover, but as the days rambled on and we enjoyed taking the train into the city, we lingered. Apparently we took routes that were generally known as unsavoury... we didn't notice. It was also in September and the weather was balmy, far better than it had been in the southeast. The Art museum was breath-taking, as were the tree-lined streets. the only reason we moved on, was that I started to feel uneasy about the approach of hurricane Andrew...
