to be the guest artist at scrapfaith for their newest challenge....
i met emilie earlier this year at CHA....she is such a vibrant ray of sunshine...SO friendly & funny & kind, not to mention a killer artist...anywho...while we were talking she told me @ scrapfaith & it's mission to encourage & inspire people to create pages in their scrapbooks documenting their Faith (whatever it may be) & the whole "who, what, when, where, why" about it...SO cool!!....so when she asked me if i would like to guest on the blog, i jumped at the chance...i think my computer freaked out too because i had all sorts of technical difficulties, but that is another story for another day...lol
oooh! & FYI..the scrapfaith blog will be doing give-a-ways starting this month! the winner will be chosen from those who comment to the posts on the blog during the month...so get commenting! maybe you'll win a cool prize! :)
& here is my contribution for the november 1st challenge:
yes, you will notice that the blue frame isn't in the photo of the journaling...i added that after i had (i thought) completed the layout & was photographing it...but when i was looking at it on the screen it just needed "something"...lol...hence the hand cut & stiched on frame :)
the challenge was to scrap about your 1st experience of service....& what came to mind right away was my days of volunteering with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society & cycling as a member of the NYC Team in Training....it wasn't actually my "1st" experience of volunteering or service technically....growing up in my family, my parents were big on thinking outside of yourself & sacrifice & helping your community & those around you....my parents encouraged, & i was always involved in, "service" of some kind or the other since i was very young...but with the Leukemia Society, it was something that I initiated & i think that is what makes it stand out to me...but also, it is because it was when i really embraced the whole "this world is bigger than just being about me" thing...it is the time when i truly experienced how doing for others grows your heart so big you just want to burst...it was such a priviledge to be able to work with the Society & the kids...it started as a challenge to myself to complete an endurance cycling event & then turned into so much more....i count myself extremely fortunate to have been able to work with the Society for those years :)
i hope you check out the challenge & think of joining in!
hope you have a great week!

Man that is so cool! You are just so multi-faceted G. You look at things from YOUR point of view and you bring out the less obvious in a way that just makes it so OBVIOUS to the rest of us.
And I love the paint swiping you've got going on there ;-)

Great challenge, and a wonderful layout to accompany it! You are one lean, mean athletic machine. I envy. Maybe if I got off my lazy butt and exercised before the kids get up in the morning, I would feel more energized for the rest of the day. Perhaps a New Year's resolution in the making...
