pool deck art journaling...

the new tarisota style studio started up yesterday with an art journaling prompt from tamar.  i've so been looking forward to this one, so i was anxious to start :)

the only problem was...it was a beautiful sunday, our family day.  the last thing i wanted was to be inside while everyone was outside having fun. 

so i pulled out a blank art journal that had been sitting around for a while, some water soluable oil pastels, pencils & pens & brushes, a cup of water and tamar's instructions & inspiration sheet and i took it all down to our pool deck!!  perfectamundo!!  

kelly spied me & wanted to join in.  sure!!  she took to it like a fish to water!  omgosh she is so creative it is amazing!  she sat & drew & pondered & water colored totally enjoying herself.  she has such a vibrant imagination & a freedom with art that i envy.  she doesn't have any of that "fear of screwing up or measuring up" that i struggle with sometimes.  she just goes for it!  there are no limits!  she mixes this color w/ that...hmmm...what about this kind of flower drawing?  how would that look?  it is so cool.  i'm learning so much from her :)  

 

i've always told her art is doing...art is active.  it isn't about the end result, it isn't about ending up with something "perfect" (whatever the heck "perfect" is).  art is the act of creating something from your heart.  it is about trying something new, it's about venturing into something different.  guess she's listened to me...maybe I should listen to me :)

i'm so glad we did this!  it was SO fun!!  everyone can't wait to art journal again today & they have already started on tamar's 2nd prompt!

oh....hey!

hey there!  it's been a while.  & no, i'm not snowed in anymore, thank goodness!!!

we actually had a gorgeous full week last week when each & every day had beautiful sun & warm temps.  it was amazing.  SUCH a wonderful break from all the weather that has been march here in the northeast. 

i've been in such a weird mood lately.  think it has to do a lot with the fact that mike's hours got changed & now he doesn't get home until much later so he misses dinner every single night.   he's always worked long hours & his commute is a doozy, so he wasn't home for dinner every night, but he was home, maybe, 2 nights a week.  but i guess those 2 nights were more important than i thought.   everything is off kilter now & i'm kind of all blaaaahhhhhh. 

& now reading me whine about it is just annoying me even more.  ha!  geez louise i'm high maintenance today!  lol!!!

i think the other thing that is kind of got me in a tither is the fact i just want to do everything.  stitch, crochet, knit (have to relearn how to do it & maybe graduate past the loooooooonnnnng scarf), sew....i want to do all these lovely crafting hobbies.  i want to do it all but i can't focus for 35 seconds to start a one.  all the "want to do's" get overwhelming.  especially when i'm needed elsewhere for my "have to do's".  kwim?

*sigh*

think i need to "count my blessings".  that always straightens me out & rights my ship.  i AM incredibly blessed with so much.  my glass is sooooo very more than half full of this i am well aware.  :)

see?  better mood already :)

lots to share...

kenner road revealed last night...GORGEOUS kits & the launch of the embellishment kit (which i got & LOVE!!!)
here is what i've got so far w/ this month's kits...

there are some gorgeous colors & florals in this month's kits...i need to play some more :)

and today is a new word up over at onelittleword...i also used my kenner road kit for this one...but i surprised myself & actually went a little nutso w/ the spray ink & masking techniques i learned in dina's art journaling class a bit ago...& it was SO fun!!! 




& as for my page...for me, i think sometimes i ask "why?" WAY too much...i get stuck...stagnated trying to search for the who, what, why, when & where's of everything...digging deep is fine & good, but sometimes i just need to let.it.go...move on...stop asking so many questions & trying to figure everything out...life has it's way of showing me & teaching me just what i need to know, when i need to know it...i need to trust that more...let the "why?" go just a bit and focus on the growing part :)

i created the page using my kenner road kits (yes...the SAME july kits that i created the pages in the beginning of the post...crazy, huh?) plus some gorgeous embellishments from zva creative.  they are the generous sponsor this week & i loved using their adorable felt flowers and rhinestones on this...the felt took that spray ink like a champ...& the rhinestones are SO sweet & tiny & gorgeous...love it...

i've been really inspired by donna downey lately & really admire that she is always pushing herself to try something new, not just play it safe in what she has down pat...i'm going to try to do that more...push myself creatively...wish me luck :)

art journaling...

i'll be the first to admit that i have trouble with art journaling...i tend to put too many parameters on myself rather than just letting it go & having fun toying with techniques & exploring color...i think i get frustrated too easily & have not seen the big picture that this is supposed to be a process, constant exploring of art & having fun...my pages aren't supposed to be perfect...they are a work in progress...i think i'm finally starting to get the message :)

& that is completely due to my taking dina's art journaling 102 class...

it is tremendous...really REALLY fabulous...dina has such a wonderful way of teaching...her outlook has really inspired me to finally let it go & give it a try...& i'm trying...still have to tell myself every once in a while that "no worries!  this is experimenting here!!  just have fun!"

also in a flurry of spray ink this morning...i created my answer to Q11 for my Q & A journal...emily's prompt this week was "what keeps you up at night?"...chose to keep my journaling hidden in a little pocket this time around...
